By any definition. food is something that fulfils our physical needs. Food symbolize many different way to different culture. Aw we know, on this earth everybody needs food to survive but other than that food construct some sort of distinguish in culture, festivals, and communications and so on. Food as a symbol can refer to any feature of a cultural history. To me food symbolize happiness because without food it's hard to enjoy our life.
We are living in a multicultural nation with different meaning of food, which symbolize many ccultures. According to the historian Massimo Montanari, " Food Is Culture explores the innovative premise that everything having to do with food-its capture, cultivation, preparation, and consumption-represents cultural act." However, food can be a meaning of exploration of cultural satisfaction. From birth to death we rely our every moment on food. In fact, by naming some food such as Italian pasta, Indian curries, Chinese food and so on where we bring our culture in the frame of life.
on the other hand, on special occasions certain foods take on a symbolic significance such as Turkey on Thanksgiving, chocolate on Halloween, Christmas Eve and so on. people celebrate their specials occasions in many different way but food always will be the first thing to chose. We can't think Thanksgiving without turkey because it's make a memorable feast to be grateful day where everybody gather together, meanwhile, chocolate is a way to celebrate our Halloween day. We try to be happy in every aspects of our life but in empty stomach it's hard to find the happiness as well.
In addition, food symbolizes a way of communication because whenever we invite someone in a party or in our house is either for lunch or dinner where food plays a major role. In communication we all know that word have power but to have a conversation with someone we bring food in to an action because food is a way to bring people together. For example, when we invite someone for a party we obviously ask them co come and have a great dinner which means food and that's how we are making communication through food.
indeed, food plays an important role into our daily life. in every aspects of our life we need food to keep our culture, festivals, communication alive. food can satisfy our need without any questions therefore means to us a lot
